# Saigon, 1965
[Saigon, 1965](https://www.pushkin.fm/episode/saigon-1965/) is a [[Revisionist History]] episode which introduces [[Confirmation Bias]] through the lens of the Vietnam War.
Gladwell tells the story of conflicting intelligence summaries about the course of the Vietnam War by the RAND corporation. He concludes that intelligence failures happen not because of a lack of intelligence, but because people interpreting that intelligence are influenced by their own circumstances and beliefs. In this case that the war is winnable because that was the best possible (or the only acceptable) outcome for them.
