# UniFi Firewall Rules UniFi firewall hosts three different types of interfaces: WAN, LAN and Guest. Guest rules are for all guest networks, while LAN rules are for all other networks. Furthermore, each interface can have rules that belong to three different directions: in, out, and local. In rules are for traffic going into the interface, out for traffic leaving the interface, and local is for traffic addressed to the router itself, like SSH and DNS.
